Why Spokane?

In Spokane, the safety problem is real, concentrated, and already recognized by city leadership. Like many U.S. cities, Spokane experiences severe and fatal crashes primarily on high-speed arterial roads — the same streets Emergency Streets is designed to address.

The concept of Emergency Streets was introduced by Spokane transportation leadership as a way to move beyond studies and condolences and toward visible, fast action after fatal crashes.
